  • "As confirmed by a TMW managing committee member, any poll with at least 18 "Yes" votes out of a total of at least 25 votes will be passed and codified into TMW, and enforced in-game". This is not true. There is no current rule about poll limits apart from GM elections. Any community poll that passed with at least 51% of the votes would be considered.
  • On March 5, 2018, apparently a change was made to the standard practice in which GM prizes were limited to unobtainable items and/or items currently held in GM storage. No change to practice. On March 5, 2018, I awarded a Dark Helm to a player. This item has been awarded in the recent past and was considered available to be awarded. So much so that there was one in GM storage which is the one that I gave away.
  • Please, do not destroy the benevolent character of the TMW game. Yes. Please. I'd really like that.
  • The conversion of the TMW game to a mere chain of GM Events would likewise drastically reduce or even eliminate interest in playing the game, even for the most die hard of GM Events fans. I agree, but TMW is converting into a better version of itself and GM events are something to keep the game interesting in the meantime.
  • all this items should be obtainable by quest and absolutely not by rare drops only Yes. Many quests are being planned and some are being worked on. Doing what we can seeing as it's nobody's full-time job.
  • Lastly, I am not Tezer's secret alt trying to award myself items in the game by hosting events which I will attend and also host at the same time and also win the event and give myself the item. That is a crazy conspiracy theory.

It's a really cool theory I kinda wish it was true...

I know there is quite some demand by players for rares.

But think of this: 8 new items were introduced that are obtainable. Also a couple of new items were introduced that are reserved especially for GM events. I have lost track of them all but should be in the same range, counting the Bras as well.
And if you count all the old unobtainable items, thats quite a variety to choose from them for GM events. So why choose an obtainable one? As there ARE players who take the efforts to maybe get one?

I am so angry at the Dark Helm because it is a showoff item. You either needed to spend a lot of time to get it or be extremely lucky. If you had gotten one dropped, this would have been like creating a legend. But by handing it out as a GM prize, this item is reduced to a GM win. Nothing special. You are being stupid now if you still do Krukans, they arent really rewarding in XP or drops. And after more than 200 of them, they arent that funny anymore.

The efforts that I calculated are for sure quite huge. Its around 2000 gaming hours for a Dark Helm, on average. Clearly not everybody, in fact about nobody, is willing to spend such an amount of time in a dying game. But that doesnt mean to me that players must be able to get it with about zero effort. Either lower efforts to get it (and reduce the legendary factor at the same time), or well, nobody will get it. Nobody deserves it if they wouldnt take the challenge to get it. Whats so bad in having items that nobody did get so far?

And if you still think it is a good idea to hand out just anything on demand, then why dont you do it in the very last few weeks of the game, when you got a definite timeline when the new game will arrive. My guess is that this wont take place in 2018 or maybe not earlier than short before christmas. So until then, players like me could have fun in hunting for those hard-to-get items and trying to make themselves legends, despite chances are very low.

But by now, well, the best way to play this game is to sit in Hurnscald Market all year long and hope for next GM event. This might sound attractive to the majority, but I am not this kind of a player. Sorry, but for me you did not make the game interesting, but you took away about 99% of the reasons I was still playing for after level 99.

Hoping the new game arrives soon. After all, I really enjoyed TMW and will gladly restart on a new game.

Edit: Oh, and lastly, I do not think Tezer is your alt. Its a theory that has rosen at some players because Tezer is really lucky in GM events. I am not angry at him for winning this toothbrush lol.

Honestly I still thought the Dark Helm was unequippable. As I said, it was left by somebody in the GM storage. We chose this way to deal with the Legacy server, through GM events and just making pretty much everything obtainable. That works with our timeline for the new server. Of course, it will never make everyone happy because that's impossible. If we did things differently maybe you'd be happy and many others would not. This is always what is going to happen.

I respect your decisions and I bet its a hassle to deal with many different opinions.

But one last question remaining. Why do you release the hard-to-get items at all, make a small minority of players like me actually hunting for them, when you give them away for free no 2 months after they have been released?

Because I'm not the one who made the Dark Helm hard to get or even obtainable and I was never informed of that decision. I thought it counted as unobtainable and I even thought it was unequippable by players. If I had known I would not have given it away. I blame whoever left it in the GM storage.

After seeing what happened I'll make sure I only give away unobtainable items. :)

Just for the record, it is my understanding that in the history of the game, the Dark Helm has only ever been dropped once during a Krukan battle. And the player who acquired it during that battle was Xnove. Xnove has a level 99 character, and has been playing the game for many years.

But Xnove received it at a time when it was understood that the Dark Helm would never be equipable. I believe that is why he traded it in for another item, and how it came to be in GM storage.

When the Dark Helm was recently made equipable, imo the fair thing would have been to have offered to trade it back to Xnove, its original owner. But that is another issue.

That's something to point out to whoever made the Dark Helm equippable, which isn't me.

Personally, I'm very surprised that the Dark Helm was traded to GM storage for a different item in the first place, given that even without the ability to equip it, it's still an extremely lucky drop from a challenging player event, valuable in a way that goes beyond even many of the rarest items in the game. That said, I can see it being frustrating not being able to see it on his character or show it off to other players as effectively.

In my opinion, it shouldn't have been allowed to be traded in, rather it should have been made equip-able, and it shouldn't have been used as a GM event prize, it should be returned to Xnove and the player who won it in the GM event given a different prize instead.

I won't take the reward back as it was available to be won in the event. I can make sure I do not make them available in the future and I can return a Dark Helm to Xnove IF he is willing to trade it back for whatever item he received the first time he traded it in. He can contact me in-game or on IRC anytime :)
